Was it just me, or did 2023 just whizz by?
Life is strange. Many times we end up where we never thought we would be.
1. I started my own practice at assureclinic.sg a few months ago.
Just perhaps a year or so prior, a colleague asked me if I would ever open my own clinic. Without a thought, I told her "no". Well, things happened, priorities shifted, and here I am.
I have to admit, it was (and still is) pretty nerve wracking, but in this case, taking that first step opened more doors. I'm also pleased that I can work with more patients from a functional and integrative medicine approach.
2. My father lost the battle with cancer.
The cancer journey is one full of grief, right from the first abnormal test result.
This, perhaps, was a turning point for me - could we have detected it earlier? Could I help others to avoid what he went through?
Therefore, at Assure Family Clinic, one of my focus is health screening and preventative health, which includes more advanced and well-researched biomarkers that can pick up early disease e.g. insulin resistance, chronic inflammation - which are 2 hallmarks of ageing and disease.
3. My baby turned one!
My bright spark and ball of energy is now one and a half years old, and it is just lovely seeing her grow a little every day with new abilities, new words, new ways of expressing herself. Right now, she is obsessed with wiping and cleaning :)
4. Learning never stops - I'm now studying anti-ageing medicine a.k.a. longevity medicine.
When I mention "anti-ageing", most people automatically think of aesthetic procedures. While I still do aesthetic medicine, anti-ageing medicine is much more than that. It is about how do we maximise our health for as long as possible, so that we remain disease and disability free well into our golden years.
We know how to plan our finances for our retirement and children, but have we thought about what steps we can take right now, to ensure our health in the future? This is the real anti-ageing or longevity medicine.
Think about what do you want to look like at 80, and why? To continue doing your hobbies, be able to carry your grandchildren, to remain independent, etc. Then, let's try to sustain our health trajectory to fit that ideal.
I'm here to help you chart out a path - do reach out for more information.
